Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to the “International Journal of Montology Studies” undergo independent double-blind peer review.
Upon submission, each manuscript is initially evaluated by the Managing Secretary for compliance with the journal’s scope, publication requirements, and formatting guidelines approved by the Editorial Board.
Information regarding the receipt of the manuscript and its further review process is provided to the author through automatic notifications generated by the journal’s online submission system after the manuscript is registered in the author’s account.
If the submitted materials do not meet the journal's formal requirements or formatting standards, the manuscript may be rejected at the preliminary screening stage, and the author will be notified accordingly.
After passing the initial screening, the manuscript is sent for evaluation to two independent reviewers. Reviewers may include members of the Editorial Board, as well as highly qualified researchers and specialists from other academic institutions who possess relevant expertise and professional experience in the specific research area.
The duration of the review process is determined by the Editorial Office, taking into account the need to ensure a thorough evaluation and timely publication of accepted materials.
The journal applies a double-blind peer-review system: information about the authors is not disclosed to reviewers, and information about reviewers is not disclosed to authors. Authors receive review reports without the names, positions, or affiliations of reviewers.
If reviewers provide recommendations for revision, the Editorial Office sends the comments to the authors and invites them to revise the manuscript accordingly.
The revised manuscript must be returned to the Editorial Office within the period specified by the journal. After revision, the manuscript may be sent for another round of review. The date of resubmission of the revised version is considered the new submission date.
The Editorial Board reserves the right to reject manuscripts if authors fail to address justified comments and recommendations provided by reviewers or the Editorial Office.
Manuscripts that receive positive evaluations from two reviewers and approval by the Editorial Board are recommended for publication in the journal according to the order of acceptance.
If one reviewer provides a positive recommendation and the other provides a negative recommendation, the manuscript is sent to an additional reviewer or a member of the Editorial Board with relevant expertise. Based on the additional evaluation, the final decision on acceptance or rejection is made by the Editorial Board.
If two negative reviews are received, the manuscript is rejected for publication.
Manuscripts that are not recommended for publication by reviewers are not reconsidered.
The journal does not accept for publication:
- articles containing previously published materials;
- articles that do not comply with the journal's formatting and submission requirements;
- articles whose authors fail to implement the required revisions requested by the Editorial Office;
- articles where authors do not address reviewers' constructive comments or do not provide justified responses to them;
- a series of articles representing separate incomplete stages of an unfinished research project.
After the Editorial Board makes a decision to accept an article for publication, the author is informed through the journal’s online system and provided with the expected publication timeline.
The order of publication is determined by the date of manuscript submission. Articles addressing particularly important scientific issues or presenting fundamentally new findings may be published ahead of schedule by the decision of the Editorial Board.
The Editorial Office does not engage in substantive discussions with authors regarding the scientific methodology of their research, does not provide consultations on manuscript preparation, and is not responsible for developing manuscripts to the required scientific and methodological level.
